My Favorite Plan From Student Teaching
My favorite lesson plan from students teaching was teaching the students a writing lesson. For the writing lesson, I taught the students about tired words. I introduced 8 words that I notice students used over and over. The objective for the lesson was that the students would learn a variety of new synonyms for eight words that are overused in writing. Students were put into groups of 8 and with their group they had to find synonyms for their assigned word. They used class iPads to look up their work on a kid thesaurus. When they found new words they wrote them on a bed template. After the students were done we came back as a whole group and went over the new words. The bed templates are on display in the room so students can refer back to it when writing.

Technology Intergration
A lesson where I integrated technology was during a lesson on how to write a letter. We gathered as a whole group and talked about how to write a letter and the five steps. After going over the new concept the students got into groups and received a packet. In the packet, there were twenty questions that had to do with writing a letter. Using their skills, they built over the introduction of the lesson they were to read the question, and as a group circle the correct answer. After they circled the question they checked their answer using a QR code app. This allowed them to check their own answer and discuss why they got it wrong if they did get it wrong. The students loved using the QR code app and are masters at using the app.

Differentiation Instruction
During reading whole group time, students gathered to the floor and we went over what sequence is. We identified together what our current stories sequence was by looking for clues. After reviewing the story students were put into partners. For partners, I placed students with different abilities together so they can both work together and reach the goal. In their partners, they received a worksheet that had 10 important sentences from the story in random order. They had to look through the book to find where the sentences were located and write the page number. After they found all the sentences they had to place them in order of page number. When the students were done I did a check BINGO with them so they could check their answers.

Techniques for Assessment
A Technique that I used for
an assessment was using a pre-test and a post-test for a social studies unit. I gathered information on what students already knew before the lesson was taught. This provided me great insight on what I need to teach more of. After teaching the lesson the students took the post-test. It was great to see their growth from the pre-assessment at the beginning of the unit. I gathered their data and saw so much growth. The results ensured me that my teaching was effective towards the students’ growth and understanding. |
